Pavlovian Conditioning

At least people are catching on. This website can show you if you have swine flu: http://doihaveswineflu.org.

There are three possibilities to obviously conclude from this website.

a: People are getting smarter
b: People are getting conditioned to this sort of thing
c: People are still idiots, and are following what basic newsgroups feed to them.

As Ron Paul put it in a video, the vote came up to fund swine flu prevention in the 1970s, and only two congresspeople voted against it, him and the only other physician. It's crazy ridiculous how they can make 150 people with the flu sound like a pandemic. What about the regular flu? Why aren't they reporting on the hundreds of thousands of Americans who are contracting that this flu season?

Nice. That made my day.

I tend to be of the belief that people are getting smarter. Either that, or they were always much smarter than I once thought. I probably mentioned this to you at one point, but anybody that I really get to know usually turns out to have a lot to offer, whereas my passing judgments of everyone else tend to be negative. You see idiots in the news because news stations are biased, and want to make dissenters look stupid, and most celebrities are usually stupid because their real interests are much more focused somewhere else.

I suppose it could be an illusion on my part. Maybe I only try to get to know people who I already determine or smart, or maybe it's because I'm at a decent school, or any number of possibilities. But of course these qualifiers don't cover everyone I'm talking about. I've always gotten off on thinking my own level of intelligence is rare, but I'm starting to reconsider.
